What a morning routine builder does

A morning routine is a short list of things you do in the same order after you wake up. The hard part is rarely the list. It is knowing whether the list fits into the time you have.

This builder gives every step a length and a clock time. Tell it when you wake up and it shows when each step starts and when you finish. Tell it when you need to leave and it works backward to the latest time you can begin.

How to build a routine that fits your mornings

Begin with what you already do, not what you wish you did. Add steps one at a time, with the length each one really takes. It is easier to add a stretch or a few pages of reading to a routine that works than to cut down one that is too long.

Order matters. Put the step you least want to skip near the front, and keep steps that depend on each other next to each other, like getting dressed after a shower. Then check the finish time against your day, and leave a few minutes of slack for the mornings that do not go to plan.

Using your routine every day

When the times look right, add the routine to your calendar. Choose every day or weekdays only. The events use the same clock time wherever you open the calendar, so they do not shift when you travel.

If you want to tick steps off as you go, a routine builder for morning, afternoon and evening keeps them in one place. Your routine here saves on this device, and nothing you type is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

How do I build a morning routine?
List what you do each morning in order and give every step a realistic length. Add the lengths up to see how much time the routine takes, then check that the total fits between your wake-up time and the time you need to leave.
How long should a morning routine be?
There is no right length. Many people land somewhere between 20 and 90 minutes. Start with the time your mornings actually allow, and add a step only when it fits.
What time should I wake up for my routine?
Choose I know when I need to leave, enter your leave-by time and add your steps. The builder subtracts the total minutes and shows the latest time you can start. Adding 10 to 15 minutes of slack is a common way to cover the unexpected.
Can I add my morning routine to my calendar?
Yes. Pick a start date and a repeat setting (every day, weekdays only, or just once), then download the .ics file and open it. The routine is added as one event, or one per step if you tick that box. Events keep the same clock time wherever you open the calendar.
Is this morning routine builder free?
Yes. There is no account and no email. Your routine is saved in your own browser and is never uploaded.
