What this quiz measures
Work-life balance is often described as a split between a job and everything else. In practice it is wider than that. This quiz looks at eight areas that tend to shape how a life feels: health, mind, relationships, work, finances, learning, rest and purpose.
Each area gets two statements, such as whether you get enough sleep or whether you can switch off from work. Your answers become a score out of 10 for each area, so you can see at a glance which parts are steady and which are stretched.
How to read your result
Start with the shape, not the total. If your areas are close together, your life is fairly even right now, even if the numbers are modest. If one or two areas sit well below the rest, that gap is where attention is likely to help most.
Your result names your highest and lowest areas straight from your own scores. If Work scores well above Rest, it says so, because that pairing is a common source of strain. It does not rank you against anyone, and it is not a diagnosis.
For a deeper look at balance across all eight areas, read the Wheel of Life guide or why balance is about more than work and life.
What to do with your lowest area
Pick one small, specific action in that area for this week. A walk after lunch, a call to a friend, or an hour reviewing your budget will tell you more than a plan to change everything at once.
You can open your result in the Wheel of Life to adjust any score yourself, then run a weekly review to see how it moves. Your answers save on this device, and nothing you choose is uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
- What is a work-life balance quiz?
- A work-life balance quiz is a short self-check. You rate statements about different parts of your life, and the answers are turned into a picture of where things feel steady and where they feel stretched. This one covers eight areas, not just work and home.
- How is my score calculated?
- Each of the eight areas has two statements. You answer each from 1 (not true) to 5 (very true), and the two answers are added together for a score from 2 to 10. The strongest and lowest areas are simply the highest and lowest of the eight scores. Nothing is compared with other people.
- How accurate is this quiz?
- It reflects how you felt as you answered, nothing more. It is a self-check, not a clinical test, and it cannot diagnose anything. If something in your result worries you, such as constant exhaustion or low mood, talking to a doctor or another professional is a good next step.
- What is a good work-life balance score?
- There is no target to hit. A fairly even result usually says more than a high total, because balance is about how the areas sit next to each other. Look at your lowest area first and ask whether it is a phase or a pattern.
- How is this different from the Wheel of Life?
- The Wheel of Life has you rate each area directly from 1 to 10. This quiz asks short statements and works out the ratings for you. After the quiz you can open your result in the Wheel of Life tool and adjust any score yourself.
- Is my result private?
- Yes. There is no account and no email. Your answers are saved in your own browser so you can finish later, and they are never uploaded.
